Right to appeal won

A lot of things seem to be happening on Pitcairn Island these days. Or maybe these incidents have been happening for a long time and it is only now that we are finding out about them. After all, it is kind of isolated from the rest of the world.

Britain's Privy Council will consider the jurisdiction and composition of the court and trial and the applicability of the British statutes under which they are being prosecuted, Privy Council registrar John Watherston said.
Asked if, as part of the appeal, the council would consider whether the Pitcairns should be considered British territory, he replied: Yes. It's fairly fundamental stuff.

But on Monday three Privy Council law lords granted the men leave to appeal, although the trial will continue.
