# The Bounty Chronicles. John Hagan is an artist who has done much Bounty and Pitcairn related art. The linked website shows some of his Bounty work. From his bio: Just over three years ago, the American pay TV History Channel couldn't find a single drawing or painting of Fletcher Christian, one of the key players on the Bounty. In searching websites, they found a portrait of Fletcher Christian painted by John Hagan, who told them he'd gleaned descriptions of Fletcher Christian from 20 years of studying the Bounty. And, he'd also come across a drawing of Fletcher Christian's half-Polynesian son, Friday. John feels his portrait of Fletcher Christian is about as close as anyone could accurately paint and felt it was his duty as an Artist to fill in this gap of Art History. Ten of John Hagan's paintings of his 'Bounty' series, including seascapes and portraits of Captain Bligh and Fletcher Christian, all done in 'classic period style were featured in a History Channel documentary of the 'Bounty Story' first screened, 10th. April 2001 as well as in articles in 'British Heritage' magazine and another nine paintings in a recent Educational Documentary. Presently, John is writing the finishing touches to his sequel of Mutiny on the Bounty, which he plans to make available later this year. # Involuntary Ignorance. The Head Heeb weblog has a great article on the latest Pitcairn developments. In Pitcairn, though, the British legal code wasn't available. There are no British law books on Pitcairn and, until recently, no way for Pitcairn islanders to conduct legal research over the Internet. In effect, British law was incorporated wholesale into Pitcairn without giving the islanders any way to find out what that law was. Short of extraordinary measures such as petitioning the governor for a copy of the law code, the Pitcairn islanders' ignorance wasn't voluntary. In light of this, there's a plausible argument that the general rule shouldn't apply, although whether it is plausible enough for the Pitcairn Supreme Court remains to be seen. # The Stain on a Speck in the Sea. An in-depth LA times article with photos. When Fletcher Christian and his crew of Bounty mutineers landed 214 years ago on tiny Pitcairn Island, its remote location halfway between New Zealand and Peru made it the perfect place to hide. Its isolation has protected the little colony's customs u2014 some quaint and some sinister u2014 ever since.
