# There is a Bounty-Pitcairn Conference coming up! According to the website it is from June 23rd to 25th, 2005. The location has apparently changed from that displayed at the website. The actual location is being finalized and will be announced soon. # You'll need to be suscribed to Yahoo and the Friends of Pitcairn Files group to access this link. It contains photos of sculptures of some of the Pitcairn Island historicical figures (Bligh, Christian, Thursday, etc). The sculptures were done by Robert Brown according to the Friends of Pitcairn mailing list and he may be displaying his work at the upcoming Bounty Pitcairn conference. The day after tomorrow, the judges, lawyers, diplomats and police who have crossed the world to pursue the men of Pitcairn will know whether it has all been worthwhile, or an expensive waste of time. But according to some historians, such liberal sexual activity was not always a part of the Pitcairn way of life. When some Pitcairners attempted to move to Tahiti in 1831 their social mores were in conflict with the locals. The Pitcairners' strict moral code, particularly in sexual matters, was at odds with the more liberal Tahitian attitude. # Pitcures from Pitcairn Island. Photos from Dea Birkett. I've mentioned Dea's book, Serpent in Paradise, previously. There's more about her book and travel writings here.
