# Is the Abutilon Pitcairnense one of the rarest plants in the world? It is found only on Pitcairn Island and was once thought extinct. Carol Warren on the island kept an eye out for the plant and found a single invididual. That's one plant of this species alive in the world. Cuttings were successfully made and transported out of Pitcairn. On 17/1/2005 the plant at Trinity College Botanic Garden flowered, the first time that plant has been grown outside of Pitcairn. The Pitcairn word for the flower is 'Yellow Fowtoo' or 'Yellow Foutu'. See the Abutilon article for more details and photos. (Link from FoP).
