# From Pitcairn Travel's and Meralda Warren's Facebook posts we get the Pitcairn Island election results:
Mayor: Shawn Christian Deputy Mayor: Brenda Christian Councillors: Charlene Warren Darralyn Griffiths David Brown Michele Christian Leslie Jaques.Pitcairn Travel notes that this is a majority of Women in the council. Quite timely since apparently at the end of November it's the 175th anniversary of Women's Suffrage on the island (Women got the vote in 1838 on Pitcairn).
The new mayor, Shawn Christian, was the islander who took me Down Rope when I was visiting the island. I'm sure he'll make a great Mayor and I look forward to the growth in the Island.
