  • 16/12/2004: Update on Darralyn's progress

Recently there was an accident on Pitcairn Island which left Islander Darralyn Griffiths injured. She had to be evacuated from the Island for emergency treatment. News reports about the accident are here:

Darralyn is progressing well and she is in high spirits. Her partner, Turi, is with her. A recent update of her progress is here, along with a photo of her being evacuated from the island in one of the boats.

Darralyn and Turi are newlyweds and have recently bought their own home on Pitcairn. They face payments for this home and unfortunately their income is limited while going through the long recovery process due to the accident. They also face the prospect of having to pay for the Medic Air transport from Mangareva to Tahiti.

To help them through this difficult period, a number of people including those involved with the Friends of Pitcairn group, Dennis Stephens' Bounty Scribe email newsletters, and others, are making a call for donations to help them out. If you feel you could contribute a few dollars to gift to Darralyn I'm sure this would help her and Turi immensely and relieve some of the stress they must be feeling at this point in their lives.

When making your donation please include your email address so you can receive confirmation that it went to the right place. If you include your postal mailing address the Warren Family will send you a thank you postcard directly from Pitcairn which will of course have a Pitcairn stamp attached to it. A nice bonus for any postcard or stamp collectors.

Paypal

Donations can be made via PayPal to any of the following addresses:

Please send your name and email address along with the check.

Thank you for taking the time to read this request and if you can help out Darralyn and her family it would be much appreciated. Let's show them the support of the Pitcairn friends on the internet. Even if you can't spare the money I'm sure some other expression of support sent to the Pitcairn address above would be appreciated.
