#
It's time for another Bounty Day announcement! The next Bounty Day is
on Sunday 23rd January 2011 at the same location as usual. That is,
the Darts Club Hall in Kenepuru, Porirua, Wellington, New Zealand. It
starts at 1pm and goes till late. The cost is $10 per head and
children under 12 are free.

Bounty Day is an opportunity for Pitcairn and Bounty descendants to meet up and have fun. A flyer with information is here. Please print this out and pass it on. You can also print out a page containing the words to the songs sung while the Bounty is set alight.

I wrote about the goings on at last years Bounty Day 2010 in the Friends of
Pitcairn group:

Bounty Day was celebrated in Wellington on Sunday. The weather wasn't
the best with a bit of rain but it was still a great day.

I put
 some photo's
here. (hosted on Facebook - they should be viewable without
 needing an account)

It might be my imagination but I swear the Bounty models are getting
bigger every year. This year was great a model and it definitely
provided some excitement when it was burnt. Someone had rigged it to
explode and sure enough when it was lit there was an almighty bang and
bits of Bounty flew everywhere as the firelighter scrambled away
wondering what was going on! While it burnt we sung 'Sweet Bye and Bye'.

The annual men vs woman tug of war also went ahead. Last year the men
won for the first time in I don't know how long. This year it was the
women's turn. Unfortunately I think most of the men were doing the
intelligent thing and staying inside while it rained and actually missed
out on the tug of war! I'm sure that's why they lost and would have won
otherwise...

The grating of the coconut competition went ahead indoors. Lots of
enthusiasm, lots of coconut. Yum!

The food came out and everyone had a fantastic meal.

The turnout was good this year. One of my aunts whom I hadn't seen since
I was a toddler was there. I met Dave Brown's daughter Ariel who was in
Wellington and attended. The best part of Bounty day is catching up with
friends and family and making new friends. That and Breadsticks. And
coconut. And exploding Bounty's. And Food. So much food :)

This year they had photo's along the wall of Pitcairn and past Bounty
days (both those held at Pitcairn and in Wellington). I brought along
copies of some of the old newspaper articles I had and put them on the
walls for people to read. The DVD player was playing videos and showing
pictures of Pitcairn.

Long story short, great day!

My write ups of previous previous Bounty days:

2009

2008

2006

Hope to see lots of you at Bounty Day 2011!
